Problems with Algae

  • Algae use a percentage of your water, oxygen, CO2 and nutrients in order to thrive, stealing it from your plants.
  • Algae are the preferred breeding ground for fungus gnats, shore flies and their root-damaging larvae, which breed, feed, and exist because of Algae.
  • Algae become hard enough to severely impact the top of the growing medium, drastically reducing the growth medium’s oxygen holding, drainage and water absorption capacity.

Pest Problems Associated with Algae

Fungus gnats and shore flies lay their eggs in an algae-impacted environment. Their larvae quickly hatch, burrow and feed on the roots causing adverse and undesirable effects on the quality of your harvest and yields.
